Diary sub-note: 1732. John Gay, writer, died We heard that David had abdicated. We went for a walk after breakfast. Marjory & I stayed at the house all the afternoon.

Diary sub-note: Grouse Shooting ends 1282. Llewellyn, Welsh prince, killed EDWARD VIII abdicated (DAVID) HE MARRIED A DIVORCED WOMAN [From previous page]David abdicated – poor darling. We went to the “Tale of Two Cities” (cinema). It was in French. Bought an English paper but there was nothing about my Davey in it.

Diary sub-note: 1917. Allenby captured Jerusalem Music lesson wasn’t too bad. Bought a “Morning Post” in which there was very hopeful news about David. Nancy & Joy wrote to me & sent me some lovely pictures of him.

Diary sub-note: 2nd [Sunday] in Advent1882. Anthony Trollope, novelist, died Mlle Hartmann & Mlle Grosslin went to La Lenk. They had a car accident on the way back & Mlle Hartmann was taken to hospital with injuries. It snowed in the afternoon quite a lot. There was a lot about David in the papers.
