Diary sub-note: 1827. George Canning, statesman, died
S.R. 5.34, S.S. 8.36
Went to buy some shoes with Andy. Went to spend the night with Nancy. Listened to the band in Hyde Park with Nancy & cousin Philip.

Diary footnote, accompanying a photograph of an Irish Setter: IRISH SETTER. One of the oldest breeds of sporting dogs, though his priority is disputed by the somewhat less numerous Gorden Setter. Though, to look at him, one would think he had more of the retriever than the spaniel in his make-up, the reverse is actually the case. With his handsome red coat, graceful tail and carriage, and generous ‘feather,’ he is a real ‘good looker,’ and a fine worker.
