Listened in to David at Vimy Ridge*
Went to Church with the school. Went for a walk with Miss Frank and it poured with rain. Gurney read to us.
*’David’ refers to King Edward VIII, whose full name was Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David. His family referred to him affectionately as David.
On this day, King Edward unveiled a Canadian war memorial at Vimy Ridge. You can read more about it here, along with an audio recording of King Edward’s speech: https://www.cbc.ca/archives/entry/1936-vimy-ridge-memorial-unveiled
