Diary sub-note: Whitsunday Fire Insurance ceases

It rained. My coat came & some sweets from Auntie Eileen. We played “dodgeball” in the gym & went up Wixenford for a walk. We danced after supper.

Diary footnote, accompanying a photograph of an Elkhound: THE ELKHOUND. A native of Norway, he is hardy and sturdy, and has great scenting powers. He is used, always on the leash, to track bear and elk in his native country, starting off at a great rate and slowing down as he gets within range, till finally he stands and points. If the quarry goes away wounded, he again takes up the chase. On the Norwegian coast he has been sometimes crossed with the Samoyed and used for sleigh work.
